envir_01Attention High School Students! Interested in Graphic Design? Woodbury University is offering a FREE intro workshop this summer. You can even earn college credit! I know summer is far away, but it’s never too early to plan for the future, especially if you can score some free college credit. The Introduction to Graphic Design workshop runs from June 8 – August 12, 2010 and is two days a week (Tuesday and Thursday) from 4 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. After attending this workshop, students will become familiar with digital tools and terminology, basic typography, and concept sketching. Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator are two of the most popular and powerful graphic design applications on the market today and a requirement for anyone serious about a career in the design field.

This intensive 10-week (3 unit) course will familiarize students with the fundamentals needed to begin to create their own artwork and projects. This is a perfect introductory course both for students planning on pursuing a degree in design as well as anyone inspired to learn how to design on the computer. Students learn though a combination of lectures, hands-on training and by doing real-life design projects!

Woodbury University is committed to providing the highest level of professional and liberal arts education. The integrated nature of the educational environment cultivates successful students with a strong and enduring sense of personal and social responsibility. They prepare innovative learners who are adept at communicating and willing to cross the boundaries of knowledge in a rapidly changing and complex world. If you are a high school student with even a remote interest in graphic design, I highly suggest attending this summer workshop. It’s free, people! Too good to pass up. Even if you don’t end up majoring in this field, being able to use programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator is an excellent addition to your resume. And classes are at night, so you still have time to enjoy the beach.
