red_crossAfter all my ranting about NBC’s late show drama, I figured I would blog about something actually important: the aftermath of the recent earthquake in Haiti. As you’ve probably heard by now, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 ravished Haiti on Tuesday, leaving people in desperate need of food and shelter among other things. You’ve also probably been bombarded with a number of programs asking for donations. If you’re like me, you want to help, but don’t know where to begin. CNN.com has provided the following list of programs seeking donations:

You can also text “HAITI” to 90999 to donate $10 to the American Red Cross relief for Haiti. The $10 will be included on your next billing statement. Now, I’ve been reading some articles about how there is too much of a delay with this method. Phone companies can only front so much of the money, if at all, so a lot of donations will have to wait until phone bills are paid. This can take 30 days or more. If you’ve read similar articles after having already donated via text, don’t be discouraged. Haiti is still going to needs funds 30, 60, 90 days from now. Their problems won’t be solved overnight. We can make a difference.
