We elves try to stick to the four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corns and syrup. – Buddy the Elf
January is probably the most popular month for dieting since many people make a new year’s resolution to lose weight and get in shape. Last week I read an interesting article from L.A. Weekly’s Squid Ink blog that listed The Worst Fad Diets To Avoid in 2010. I have to admit, I was a little worried one of the many diets I’ve tried might have made the list. Yikes! The list was put together by the British Dietetic Association (BDA), the professional association for registered dietitians in Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Most of us are well aware that fad diets are not healthy for you, but I would like to present to you…
The Worst Fad Diets To Avoid This New Year
- Cabbage Soup / Fat Burning Soup Diet
- Detox Diets
- Maple Syrup Diet
- Banana and Peanut butter diet
- Atkins Diet
- Zone Diet
- Warrior Diet
- Blood Group Diet
The Maple Syrup Diet? Sounds like something Buddy the Elf concocted. Banana and peanut butter? Mmmmm. This list is actually making me kind of hungry. To find out what these diets entail and why they’re bad for you, click here. The BDA leaves us with this final note:
“It may not sound the most exciting way to lose weight but healthy eating, activity and long term behavior change not only works but helps you maintain weight lost too.”
About the BDA
