Summer Movies in the Cemetery

I am itching for summer. The weather’s been kind of a tease lately, because just when I think the warm weather is here to stay, a cold front comes in (at least it feels cold to me). But I know that summer is almost officially here. Do you want to know why? Because next month marks the beginning of Cinespia’s movies in the cemetery!!! I am SO excited. My summer is not complete unless I see at least one movie in the Hollywood Forever Cemetery (preferably more). I am a huge fan of Cinespia’s movie screenings, and I cannot wait to see their summer calendar.
If you haven’t been to one of these yet, you are really missing out. It only costs $5 a person to get in, and you can pack a picnic and bring in drinks. Yes, alcoholic drinks. Bring blankets and pillows and whatever else you need to get comfy (just no tall chairs, for obvious reasons). Pets and barbecues are also not permitted. But those are pretty much the only rules.
Hollywood Forever Cemetery is located at 6000 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90038. My advice is to get there early (or at least send some friends to get there early). Get parking out of the way and find a good place to put your picnic blankets. There is very little info on the Cinespia website right now regarding times, dates and what movies are showing, so keep checking back. All I know is the first movie starts on Saturday May 15th. Doh! I’ll be out of town celebrating my neice’s first birthday. Luckily, the movies go on all summer long. I believe last year they started playing them on Sunday nights too, which helped to spread out the crowds.
Bottom Line: you want to go to this. There are plenty of showings all summer long, so there’s no excuse for missing it. I’m pretty sure that after seeing a movie in the cemetery, you will add it to your Summer To-Do List. What? You don’t have a Summer To-Do List yet? I feel another blog coming on…
Don’t forget to befriend Cinespia on Facebook.
