nurseryOkay, these two things don’t really have anything to do with each other. I just like alliteration. I was scouting around for some activities in Burbank and wanted to pass this info along. One helps the earth, and one helps the Boy Scouts. Thank you to Burbank Wire for sharing the following:

Compost Workshop at Sheridan Gardens Nursery

  • Date and Time: June 12th, 9:30am – 11:00am
  • Location: 817 N. Hollywood Way, Burbank

Learn to turn your leaves, grass, and food scraps into rich nutritious soil for your yard. Burbank is celebrating the 20th anniversary of it’s Backyard Composting Program with neighborhood workshops and free bins to Burbank Residents.More than 10,000 Burbank residents have already been through the workshop. Join others in your community as they build a truly sustainable city together. Workshops are free and fun for the whole family. Call Burbank Recycle Center to RSVP (818) 238-3900. You can also check out their website at www.burbankrecycling.com.

Boy Scout Troop 210 Car Wash & Breakfast

  • Date and Time: Sunday, June 13, 2010 from 9 am to 4 pm
  • Location: Burbank Elks Lodge #1497 - 2232 N. Hollywood Way, Burbank (behind Public Storage)

This event is hosted By Burbank Elks Lodge #1497, and the car wash is open to the public. Boy Scout Troop 210 is having a car wash fund raising event in the parking lot in front of the Burbank Elks Lodge 1497 on. The cost is $5.00 per car and $7.00 per van, SUV or truck.

At the same time the Lodge will be serving breakfast served from 9:00 am to 11:30 am to Elk members and their guests.  Non-Elk members, who purchase a car wash, are welcome to stay for breakfast too. The $7.00 special breakfast includes waffles with bacon or sausage, coffee and juice, and there are other menu choices as well. Come out, support the Boy Scouts, and get your car washed, while having breakfast!

I think having a clean yard and a clean car is a great way to start off the summer. If anything, you will feel clean and organized. Happy Summer!
