barnesnobleThere are lots of reading events going on this month for kids in Burbank, and most of them have fun Halloween themes. The Burbank Central Library and Barnes & Noble are each hosting events that will encourage your little ones to get excited about reading. Pre-Halloween snacks and activities are also provided. Take a look at what’s going on this month.

The Big Read – Edgar Allan Poe – The Fall of the House of Usher

Saturday, October 10 – The Big Read’s theme for the month is Edgar Allan Poe, perfect for Halloween. Join others at the Burbank Central Library at 1:30 for refreshments and an informal discussion of Edgar Allan Poe’s works, followed by the screening of Roger Corman’s The Fall of the House of Usher, starring Vincent Price. (Runtime 79 minutes—Not Rated).

Dora & Diego Bilingual Storytime Event

Saturday, October 10th at 11:00am – Dora & Diego Bilingual Storytime Event at Barnes & Noble in Burbank. Special guest storyteller reads from the popular Dora & Diego series and other fun children’s stories in Spanish and English, followed by activities and treats. Bring the whole family for this Hispanic Heritage Month Special Event. Barnes & Noble at the Burbank Town Center is located at 731 N San Fernando Blvd. (Corner of First and San Fernando.) Spooky Storytime Event

Saturday, October 24th at 11:00am – Spooky Storytime Event at Barnes & Noble in Burbank. They put the “boo!” in books! Come by for a special pre-Halloween storytime featuring spooky stories, activities, and treats. Contact the store at (818) 558-1383 for more details.

Parents, don’t forget to check out Parent’s Night Out, taking place Saturday, October 24. Golden State Gymnastics Halloween Parent’s Night Out Party is a great opportunity to leave your kids in a safe and fun environment while you enjoy a night out. Click here for more info.
